Scientist in Phage Display

We currently have an opening for a Scientist in phage display, who will focus on the selection, screening and optimization of antibodies against a variety of therapeutic targets. The position will be graded as Associate Scientist, Scientist or Senior Scientist depending on the experience of the successful candidate.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and quality-control phage display libraries
  • Devise selection strategies and design selection arms
  • Biotinylate and quality-control antigens
  • Perform phage selections using manual and automated techniques
  • Perform high-throughput screening using ELISA automation
  • Analyse high-throughput screening data
  • Express selected antibody clones in E.coli
  • Perform affinity maturation and optimization of antibodies
  • Participate in the construction of antibody libraries
  • Participate in the development of new antibody technology

Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of hands-on research experience in protein and/or peptide phage display, having performed successful phage selection and screening campaigns on at least 2 targets
  • Thorough understanding of the calculations required for phage library selections and of the mathematics that underlie the kinetics of protein-protein interaction
  • Experience in the day-to-day cloning of cDNAs, protein expression in E.coli and basic protein chemistry such as affinity purification and Western Blotting
  • Ability to accurately record and effectively communicate scientific data and ideas in English
  • Commitment to keeping abreast of the latest literature in the field of phage display

Experience in affinity maturation and in the cloning of libraries would be of advantage.
